Chetanalaya has a substantial presence and programmes in the Rural areas as well. Participatroy Development Programmes are facilitated in about 300 villlages in Haryana. These communities are witnessing a slow but steady transformation from the tradition of poverty and marginalization to that of empowerment and mainstreaming. An integrated development approach is adopted so that people are capacitated with information for winning their rights to development and decent living. The people who were downtrodden and marginalized are now finding their new roles as the change makers.

Rural Sanitation Programme helps 150 families to have safe sanitation facilities at their houses. It is a land marking behaviour change when hundreds of families start using safe sanitation. As in other interventions, finances are mobilized through the micro finance schemes for women.

Panchayati Raj institutions open up tremendous opportunities for grass roots level participatory local self governance. The gram sabhas in the villages where Chetanalaya is present are alive now. Through constant trainings and capacity building programmes, people participate and respect each others opinion over the considerations of caste, colour and creed.

Sustainable agriculture and natural resource management are the other programmes that Chetanalaya takes up. Chetanalaya through combining skill development trainings and micro finance open up new employment opportunities in the farm and farm related sector. 130 kisan groups have been formed as soldiers of organic farming. There is a model farm run by Chetanalaya in Rohatak. Vermin Compost making and organic farming trainings are done regularly for the rural farmers.
